SMILE A smile is the shortest distance between people. A smile promotes understanding and openness. According to science, it is actually healthy to smile, and if we smile, we will live longer and happier lives. A smile also appears on our faces when we are satisfied or have achieved great results. We have done that together in Grundfos. 2010 was a good year for us. We managed to turn the recession into progress after the global financial crisis that hit us and many others hard. We have reason to be satisfied with the effort we have made, and we decided to celebrate our achievements just before Christmas. It is my impression that this reward put a smile on the faces of many employees, and I would like to repeat my gratitude for their great efforts to ensure that we made it through a very turbulent period and became even stronger. Despite the crisis, we succeeded in making our customers smile too. Our customer satisfaction survey showed good progress. Of course, certain things could be better, but in general, we are doing really well. It is important to continue this development, as employees who smile will make the customers smile, and they will then remain loyal and purchase our products over and over again. It is as simple as that. Then there is the smile that appears on your face when you have done your very best. When we set new records within production or sales, when we win a large order on a prestigious construction project and install everything to the customer’s full satisfaction, or when our ideas and technologies set new standards for the benefit of both people and the environment. We must remember this smile, and we must celebrate our successes. Our set of values is also about opening our company to people who have not had an easy life. People are very different and have different abilities, opportunities and needs. But if we work to gether to make room for each other, working becomes much more fun and meaningful. A smile is a sign of recognition, respect and openness. It is a quality stamp. And that is why we smile so often in Grundfos.
