Dear Grundfos colleague An exciting and challenging year lies ahead, a year in which we will experience some changes. We have just rounded off 2013 with a result we cannot be pleased with. Growth was modest, and we are cornered in a number of markets by outside economic conditions and by competitors who are trying to duplicate our solutions with new, innovative and energy-efficient products. We are still market leaders, but this can change in a minute unless we do something. Consequently, we are speeding up thorough analyses and considerations for the future. We want to be the strongest player in the market with the best products and services. We want to be present where the market is evolving, and where the need for sustainable solutions is growing. We want to recruit the best and keep our talented employees, because competences and inventiveness are essential to gaining additional market shares and staying in the lead. And as a matter of fact, we are well on the way. In this issue of Gmagazine, you can see for yourself that our efforts are in the right places. Our customers are satisfied and loyal as long as we offer them the best of the best. It is important that we continue to do this. In December, the Group Board of Directors made a tough decision by saying farewell to our Group President. We did not see eye to eye on the speed and methods of developing Grundfos. Now, a future Group Financial President has been found, and by the next Gmagazine issue, we should be ready to present our new Group President. Meanwhile, Grundfos is being led soundly and securely by managers and employees in conjunction. Things are under control. As I said to begin with, we can expect some rough going in the markets. We enjoy competition, because it heightens the senses and brings out the strongest in all of us. The same applies in the world in sports. In January, the European Handball Championships took place and saw France beat Denmark as the well-deserved gold medal winner. A few months ago, the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia took place, and soon, the Football World Cup will be held in Brazil. Grundfos was, and still is, involved as a sponsor or supplier of pump solutions for the various plants at the stadiums. These platforms are good for branding. And what applies in the world of sports also applies to the world of business: everyone can join, but only the best can win. At Grundfos, there is room for diversity and all kinds of people. It is what makes us winners.
