Dear colleague This will be the last time I introduce our global employee magazine. Mads Nipper, our new Group President, takes over the job from the next issue. Something you can look forward to. Mads brings a strong market and customer focus to the job of Group President. He knows how to lead by example, with strong values and a people focus. Mads presents his thoughts in more detail later in the magazine. We face major challenges and opportunities. Many of our competitors are closing in on us in terms of technologies, products and market share. Our vital market for circulation pumps is not what it was a few years ago. We therefore need to adapt to a new reality where competition is more intense and even greater focus on customers is required. We have to be the best in the market. We have done this, we are doing this, and we will continue to do so. Like any market leader, we have to be on our guard and increase our lead over our pursuers. Sometimes it is a good thing to be a little paranoid in this respect. We have to be geared for growth and change, and meet customers on their terms. We are achieving good results in many areas, as reported later in the magazine. We have analysed our situation intensively over the last few months. We have reviewed our markets, competitors and processes with our staff. We asked 700 employees for their opinions. Where should we focus? Where do we need to change? Where do we need to be better? This analysis will shape our new strategy, responding to the many challenges we face. We need to act decisively and deliberately. The analysis has revealed that we need to get better at differentiating what we offer our customers, that there are markets where we have unexploited potential, and that there are areas where we can perhaps do things more simply, quickly and efficiently. The analysis highlighted areas where we can improve, but it also revealed that our employees are world class. We have extremely loyal and dedicated employees who believe in Grundfos and will give their utmost to ensure we maintain our strong position. It is not just words when we say that our employees are our greatest asset. It is a fact. It is also a fact that we are in a much better position to face the future challenges than all our competitors combined. Thank you for your attentiveness and teamwork, and the many good conversations I have had with colleagues over the last few months. It has been an amazing and revitalising experience. Keep up the good work.
