Safe, secure and sustainable water A new partnership between ADRA International, an international humanitarian organization, and Grundfos, will provide access to clean water to 1.5 million people in Africa, Asia, Central and South America, and the South Pacific over the next five years. The partnership aims to improve and save lives by using renewable energy and water innovation technologies to provide more efficient and sustainable water access to the people. Several upcoming ADRA projects will start using Grundfos products, including automated water dispensers, similar to ATM machines, which dispense water at the swipe of a pre-charged card. Water projects will focus on disadvantaged populations, in particular those in peri-urban communities. Boosting fresh water to drought-hit areas in Italy When summer heat and drought hit Italy, the employees working on the Booster Assembly Line in our Italian company worked overtime to guarantee quick delivery times for several booster pump systems. Especially the provinces of Piacenza and Parma, between Milan and Bologna, were hit hard and in need of water, since the terrain is split in half between flatland and hills. Public water utilities in the area were therefor facing a hard time managing the water pressure in the optimum way. To help solve the summer crisis and prevent the villages on the top of hills suffering from a complete lack of water, Grundfos Italy responded quickly to the utility company’s urgent need for several boosters to distribute water from containerized water treatment plants rented for the unusual situation. Using big data to advance efficiency in water networks Data analytics and water technology are merging in a collaboration between TaKaDu and Grundfos. The partnership combines our technological expertise and experience with TaKaDu’s analytical event management solutions to transform raw data into end-customer value. Using data analytics in water utilities helps optimise operations and decision making with real-time information about events, such as leakages. This helps utilities detect incidents, and makes it easier to reduce water loss and improve customer service. 36 | 37
