Dear employee, we are rapidly approaching the final few working days of the year. December is traditionally filled with lots of things to do, and I know we have been incredibly busy and can now end 2012 with a flourish. This has been another reasonable year for Grundfos. Business has been good, and together we have more or less achieved our targets. of course, we have faced challenges along the way, but given the economic challenges faced by the world we have done a good job; and again, we have been very much helped by the fact that we have a presence on a large number of different markets. This provides a degree of certainty when the world is undergoing constant change. at the same time, we have had the opportunity to mark the launch of a number of new products, all of which have gained respect and recognition in the market, and a number of them have won some great awards. for me, these are examples of innovation, design and customer-related sales at their very best. The group has grown in size during the year. more and more staff are being taken on, and we are opening new factories and offices. we are growing strategically, and this means that we are now the biggest pump manufacturer in the world. This is not a target in itself, but rather a consequence of the fact that we are specifically going after new markets, new customers and new targets. one of our goals involves providing a presence in a growing world. we know that the future will bring with it – among other things – new challenges created by a climate undergoing change. This means that the world population is struggling in some places due to a shortage of water, while people elsewhere have more than enough. Too little water, or too much: regardless of the problem, our technologies can be used here. and I am absolutely certain that we can help to make a difference for the people of the world. This is why I am pleased that we can face 2013 together. I wish all Grundfos staff a prosperous year.
