Acquisitions add new power to water treatment Grundfos has acquired the Italian company ISIA, a leader within equipment and technologies for disinfecting water. W By Kim Nøhr Skibsted ater treatment is a business area that Grundfos has been working with for years. In order to strengthen this position, Grundfos has acquired Italian water experts – ISIA. The company is a world leader in delivering solutions for water disinfection by means of chlorine dioxide and developing technologies for water supply, wastewater and industrial applications. In the eyes of Peter Røpke, Group Executive Vice President and person responsible for product and technology development, ISIA offers us great potential. “ISIA is the technological leader within this business. They hold the expertise to invent interesting and efficient solutions by using chlorine dioxide for disinfecting and cleaning water”, he says. He is pleased that the ISIA technologies, market position, competences and skilled employees have been added to the Grundfos capabilities. “I am absolutely certain that our joint efforts will translate into ground-breaking technologies and solutions”, he says. Expertise for a wider public ISIA is characterised in particular by their expertise within industrial plant process management and automation as well as efficient chlorine dioxide technology for water treatment. The company has, for example, developed a flexible water treatment technology based on chlorine dioxide. Due to its characteristics, the substance is an excellent cleaning agent for drinking water, for example, but must be used in very accurate doses. ISIA has managed to achieve this, and co-founder of the company, Francesco Maia, is looking forward to making the solutions available to even more people as a part of Grundfos: “Now, our ideas and solutions will be communicated to even more markets and will be integrated in major systems and applications all over the world.” The ISIA water treatment package ranges from water treatment for industrial cooling water and raw water for drinking water supplies. As part of the Grundfos Group, ISIA will continue to service its current markets – mainly the Middle East – and will deliver support and solutions to the markets serviced by Grundfos. 4 Gmagazine December 13
