Michele originally studied in Perugia, Italy, where he followed a course in microwave electronics. A course assignment led to literally hundreds of pages of calculations, far beyond anything required. The course professor referred Michele to Professor Zito, who also appreciated his strong determination and passion for – in Michele’s own words – ‘understanding what has not been explained by anyone’; essential requirements for a researcher. Professor Zito invited Michele to carry out a Master’s thesis in Ireland. Michele has now joined Zito’s research group in Aarhus. Michele applies his interest in theoretical electronics to the design of radiofrequency receivers/transmitters, or transceivers in short. These transceivers are present in every single device with a wireless communication interface, from mobile phones, to drones, to pumps. Michele’s work will significantly lower the power consumption in all of these, something everybody who has ever had their phone run out of battery will appreciate. There will be an entire new generation of electronic devices to benefit from the innovation carried out by the research group, such as those enabling Internet of Things, Big Data, and Industry 4.0. CV Michele Spasaro received his BSc and MSc degrees (cum laude) in electrical and telecommunication engineering from Universià degli Studi di Perugia, Italy, in 2010 and 2017, respectively. From 2014 to 2015 he joined Professor Zito’s RF SoC Research Group at Tyndall National Institute, University College Cork, Ireland, for an internship and Master’s thesis research under the European Erasmus+ Exchange Programme. From May 2018 he is a PhD student with Aarhus University and has joined Professor Zito’s research group. 35
