Collaborating for water Novozymes and Grundfos entered an open innovation collaboration to find new solutions to the world’s water challenges. The partnership takes place on HelloScience.io, where entrepreneurs, startups and others can connect with industry. The two companies seek solutions to remove polluting chemicals from water and improve cleaning of wastewater. That includes better filtering, less sludge, and recovery of phosphate, a valuable nutrient, from wastewater Niels Due Jensen celebrated important milestone Mr. Grundfos, Niels Due Jensen was honoured in connection with his 75th birthday on 8 March. The man, who for his entire lifetime has been tightly connected with Grundfos, withdrew from active duty on the day, as he resigned as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Poul Due Jensen Foundation. Niels Due Jensen has had an enormous influence on the development of Grundfos through the years. He was CEO and Group President for more than 20 years, where he among other things introduced electronics in our pumps. This farsighted decision, as well as many others, was key to keeping the company in front of the industry, and created the basis for where we are today. In honour of Niels Due Jensen’s achievements, a plaza in his and Grundfos’ hometown of Bjerringbro was named after him in connection with the milestone day. An iconic performer at 50 Efficiency, performance and durability wrapped in stainless steel. The SP pump still sets the standard for submersible pumps worldwide. In 2017 it celebrated its 50th anniversary, and even though new application options have been added, the original construction principle is intact. In total, four million SP pumps have been produced, since Poul Due Jensen presented the first edition in March 1967. It was the world’s first submersible pump made entirely of stainless steel, and it quickly became famous for its durability and efficiency. 22 | 23
