on the environmental front, BLOX is equipped with a roofing solar system, three layers of high-insulating glass facades and LED lighting. Just to name some of the innovative solutions. “Our goal has been to think sustainably without compromising the architectural aspirations. At the same time comfort is a crucial parameter, in terms of noise, indoor climate and installations,” says Peter Fangel Poulsen. Meeting different needs A key stakeholder in the development of BLOX is the Danish Architecture Centre, which is one of the main users and the public attraction in the building that invites everyone in for exhibitions and debates. CEO Kent Martinussen is happy about the result and the new environment will add value to the work carried out by the Danish Architecture Centre. “We are totally thrilled about this new multifunctional building. It’s almost like a small town in itself with flats on the rooftop, parking in the basement, workspaces for the whole building industry, day care centres, restaurants, café, fitness centre and the DAC in the centre of the building. We want our guests to start visiting Denmark and Copenhagen here,” Kent Martinussen explains. The building also hosts BLOXHUB – a place where companies, organisations and researchers are working with different aspects of sustainable urban development. The right match With many functions, all installations must be tailored to fit the different needs. In that equation, our pumps play a vital role. This applies, for example, to wastewater pumps in the parking basement, five floors below ground, MAGNA3 pumps for the heating system in the control room and ALPHA pumps for residential purposes. “Our goal has been to think sustainably without compromising the architectural aspirations.” Peter Fangel Poulsen “Grundfos pumps guarantee quality, and even though they are hidden in the basement or in the control room together with the rest of the installations, they must be just as clever as the rest of the building and be able to meet the expectations of BLOX’ architecture,” says Peter Fangel Poulsen. 42 | 43
