POUL DUE JENSEN FOUNDATION Dear reader In 2020, the Poul Due Jensen Foundation turns 45, while Grundfos celebrates its 75th anniversary. Poul Due Jensen established the Foundation in 1975 with a single unambiguous purpose: To own, strengthen and develop the Grundfos Group. This continues to be the primary purpose of the Foundation. The Foundation and Grundfos are both strongly engaged with society, especially when it comes to driving sustainable development. The strong commitment of the Poul Due Jensen Foundation shows in the many philanthropic activities of the Foundation, creating knowledge and benefiting communities. The active ownership of Grundfos ensures that the company is built on a foundation of strong values, including sustainability in all aspects and a persistent focus on people. Furthermore, over the year we have worked in-depth with several aspects of governance. The Foundation has a responsibility to contribute to the community and participate in discussions where we can contribute with knowledge, opinions and actions that qualify the dialogue in the local and global community. This is a role which Poul Due Jensen took upon himself as a business owner and which we feel a responsibility to carry on in his spirit. Effective philanthropy Through its philanthropic work, the Foundation helps boost research and learning as well as ensuring access to safe water for hundreds of thousands of people in need, and with our binding and innovative partnerships, we are expressing an interest in inclusion of the vulnerable people in our community. Research and learning are both crucial for society to be able to develop and create new knowledge and technologies, which make mankind smarter and more aware of how the challenges of the future are best met. Through strong partnerships with Danish universities, we aim to contribute to gaining new insights into phenomena and terms within natural science. Furthermore, we are contributing to spreading knowledge and increasing the interest in the field among children and young people. Some of the Foundation’s programmes have, throughout the year, resulted in new and almost market-ready technologies, which can be used to find suitable water resources in places where it has previously been difficult and expensive. And we continue to fund projects with the po tential to create new and sustainable technologies and possibilities for all. Our pronounced support for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN Global Goals) is in several ways operationalised through strategic partnerships with effective NGOs, with whom we are providing safe water to people in need. Furthermore, we are working to create awareness of the fact that access to potable water is a human right, but that consumption of this vital resource cannot be free of charge. We are contributing in several ways to boost practical knowledge about water and sanitation. The Foundation is also engaged in more local work to create opportunities for people with special needs. The criteria for contributions for inclusion have been sharpened this year to encourage more cooperation and shared responsibility. We would like to see more public and private partnerships and involvement of civil society in activities which create communities and, in the long run, ensure employment, education and the ability to excel at life. Ownership creates development We also support the Global Goals through our ownership of Grundfos. Through community engagement, products, and technologies, the company contributes to sustainable development in almost every country worldwide, especially when it comes to tackling climate change. Grundfos leads the way with energy efficient pumps, saving millions of tonnes of CO2 emissions, and groundbreaking solutions with the potential to create access to safe water for millions of people. Every day, everywhere, 19,000 bright and dedicated Grundfos employees turn visions into reality. Committed and responsible Bjerringbro is the home of both the Poul Due Jensen Foundation and Grundfos. Doing our part to ensure the sound development of the town and its surrounding area to the bene fit of its people is something that is very close to our hearts. We have a responsibility to help ensure that the area can offer opportunities for healthy development and growth. On that note, we are pleased to start 2020 in new surroundings in the original Grundfos factory building in the centre of Bjerringbro, from which the success of Grundfos really started to take off. Happy reading. 3
