Making Chennai Water Positive Grundfos India was a gold sponsor of a conference titled ‘Making Chennai Water Positive’ organised by the Madras Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI). This was part of MCCI’s 3rd Urban Thinkers Campus, which is an initiative of the UN-Habitat, and was held on November 8 and 9, 2019. The symposium aimed to find solutions to reduce the water crisis and make Chennai water positive. The two-day conference witnessed active participation of various key industry experts to discuss water demand, water supply improvements, wastewater treatment and reuse, and water positivity. Given Grundfos India’s strong alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable “A circular economy approach needs to be taken when dealing with water—from conservation, recycling, reuse and recharge.” Ranganath N K Area Managing Director, INDO Region, Grundfos Development Goal (SDG) 6 that focusses on water, it aims to create a roadmap for Chennai, to make the city water positive. Ranganath N K, Area Managing Director, INDO Region, Grundfos said, “Earlier in 2019, we witnessed first-hand how Chennai’s water sources ran dry. What is required is a holistic and sustainable approach to managing water and wastewater in the city. A circular economy approach needs to be taken when dealing with water—through conservation, recycling, reuse and recharge. Efficient technologies and solutions need to be combined with careful planning, management and execution. Through all these measures, Chennai can become water positive if all concerned stakeholders also collaborate and work together.” Across the world, Grundfos works to make cities water positive through its optimised water solutions for water utility applications, water supply solutions, and water treatment solutions for each stage of the entire water treatment cycle.
