INTRODUCTION Dr. Thomas Finke Vice President Water Treatment Grundfos Industry Pernille Weiss-Ehler Member of Cabinet Commissioner Roswall European Commission On October 1st, Grundfos’ Tapping into Solutions report was launched in Brussels, bringing together a diverse group of over 35 stakeholders (policymakers, trade associations, industry leaders, and water experts) for a structured “Think-In” dialogue. Run under Chatham House Rules, this high-level exchange served to validate the report’s findings on the industry’s perspectives on the EU Water Resilience Strategy (WRS) and enrich them with grounded recommendations from those navigating the realities of water policy and industrial practice. The discussion reaffirmed a critical paradigm shift: water must be recognised not merely as an operational input, but as a finite and strategic resource, one that is deeply interwoven with Europe’s competitiveness, industrial autonomy and security, and climate resilience. Participants emphasised the urgency of dismantling sectoral silos and adopting a holistic governance approach that integrates environmental, industrial, agricultural, and societal dimensions.
