HVAC OEM wants to be on top of THe greeN WAve system of the future – i.e. hybrid solutions that combine a module for gas heat with several other modules based on various green heat sources. ”This requires more pumps – more than one for every module – and we are talking about e-pumps, which are more expensive than conventional pumps”, Henrik Bonde explains. When adding the expansion of our global activities, I expect a 50 per cent growth rate for solutions of renewable energy products within a 10-year period. ”If we are clever enough, the potential is so great that HVAC OEM could grow to twice its present size within the next five to ten years”, Henrik Bonde says. According to Henrik Bonde, this is not just wishful thinking, but a realistic possibility: Even in 2009, 20 per cent of the big boiler manufacturers’ products were based on renewable energy, and we expect the share to be more than 50 per cent within the next 10-year period. ”In Europe, the dissemination of green technologies is supported by legislation and the strategy applied by the dominating boiler manufacturers. Germany, for example, already has rules that require solar thermal heat to be installed in all newly-built following the adoption of an eup directive, increased focus on the climate will create great changes to our business. By Bjarke Nystrup Sørensen T he key customers in HVAC OEM – the big, European manufacturers of gas boilers for central heating systems – are changing their working methods: In future, all their development projects will be fully or partly based on renewable energy. And all over the world, manufacturers of solar thermal heating systems and heating pump systems are experiencing success. By intensifying its focus on the great potential offered by renewable energy, HVAC OEM wants to position itself in the global leading position within this area. The development in HVAC OEM is emphasised by the fact that Henrik Bonde’s title has been extended – in future, he will be ”HVAC OEM & Renewable Director”. He expects all future HVAC OEM solutions to be fully or partly targeted towards the renewable energy market. ”By intensifying our focus on customers who work with renewable energy solutions, we will make Grundfos the world’s leading pump manufacturer within this area, and this offers huge potential.” Not just wishful thinking The big OEM customers mainly focus on modular systems as the heating Now that the term Renewable Director has been added to his title, Henrik Bonde is happy to take a dose of his own medicine – here, he checks the sun’s contribution to the heating of his own home. 38 Gmagazine July 10
