POUL DUE JENSEN FOUNDATION INCLUSION New head of inclusion and community engagement On 1 January 2021, Christian Toft Ramsbøl joined the Foundation as new Head for Inclusion and Community Engagement. Furthermore, he will be driving development of new strategic partnerships binding the Foundation’s three donation areas together. What motivated you to apply for the job? - First and foremost, I find the Foundation’s purpose and values meaningful. I was also very impressed by the impact the Foundation has created during 2020, particularly through its swift response to the global pandemic. Finally, I am very motivated by the ambition to connect the three areas of water, research and inclusion as a lever to increase the impact of our efforts. Four facts about Christian Born in: Ribe, 1987 Education: Economy & Sociology, Aarhus University My last job: Relations Director, LEGO Foundation What I do in my spare time: Past two years I have been renovating our house – soon I will dial up again on outdoor life with my two daughters and wife Tell us a little about your background: - I have spent the last decade translating strategy from board rooms into ‘real action’ for ‘real people’ and find this extremely motivating. An essential part of this is to connect the individual projects into a portfolio to ensure the projects collectively deliver on the overall ambition. Do you have any special skills and qualifications which the Foundation – and its partners – can benefit from? - I bring expertise in scoping, managing and executing projects of transformative character. I thrive particularly in the process of creating and defining projects to deliver fast results and develop further. What is the biggest challenge ahead? - One of the challenges we need to consider is how we choose our projects to ensure they deliver on the strategy. This is a balancing act: on one hand stay true to the strategy, but we also need to be able to adapt to the context (as seen through the COVID response). For the inclusion Christian Toft Ramsbøl Head of Strategy and Programme, Inclusion area in particular, I believe there is potential to add this perspective in some of the other projects we are running - as an addition to our standalone inclusion projects. What is your personal take on the inclusion concept? - One of the common denominators of the arenas where I have thrived the most is that there has been a strong community (sports, school, work or in the local community). Having experienced how powerful communities can be, I am really looking forward to working on the inclusion agenda with our aim of supporting people in getting back into a strong community. 42
